What is an OLEV Grant?

Read the Elmtronics guide to the OLEV grant, with all the information you need about how to qualify, what vehicles are covered by the electric car grant scheme and how to claim it. We are OLEV approved installers and can guide you through the process seamlessly from start to finish.

What is an OLEV grant?

The OLEV grant is supplied by the Office of Low Emission Vehicles and allows electric vehicle drivers to claim up to £500 per charging socket. The electric car charging point grant supports the wider use of electric and hybrid vehicles, reducing the overall cost of set up and installation by up to 75%. You can claim one charging point per eligible vehicle and up to two charging points per household.

At Elmtronics, we offer both the home charging and workplace charging OLEV grant.

How do I qualify for the OLEV grant?

To qualify for the OLEV grant, you need to own or have proof you will be owning an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle from 1 October 2016 and onwards.  Used electric vehicles also qualify, as the grant is based on the date you bought the vehicle rather than the year the vehicle was first registered.

You must also have the following to claim for the grant:

  • Off street parking
  • OLEV approved home charge point installer

Can I claim the OLEV grant for a company vehicle?

You can claim the OLEV grant for a company vehicle, as long as you are assigned to the electric vehicle for a minimum of six months.
