One of the UK’s largest independent supplier and installer of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment, Elmtronics, have installed the very first Alfen Twin public charging station for Bristol Council.

The Alfen Twin electric car charger is located on Counterslip Road in Bristol. Charging is provided by Charge Your Car (CYC), the pay-as-you-go recharging network for electric vehicles. EV users can register to use this network online.

This state-of-the-art public car charging station will help to provide Bristol locals and those travelling through the city with reliable EV charging solutions, helping to increase sustainability and reduce greenhouse gases.

What is the Alfen Twin?

The Alfen Twin is a highly robust and solid charging station, especially designed for public locations.  This public charging station has a durable housing made of 100% stainless steel, which naturally blends into the street’s environment thanks to its neutral design. The Alfen Twin has no protruding parts and has a sloped top to prevent objects being placed on top of it.

This public electric car charging station has a charging capacity of 11kW or 22kW per socket and each Twin is equipped with two sockets. Its integrated management system means it can safely optimise energy usage and maximise EV charging speeds. Plus, it has a user-friendly interface with a light system that shows vehicle owners the changing status of their charging session.

Anthony Piggott, Technical Director, said: “We are extremely proud to have installed the first Alfen Twin in the UK. We hope this will be the first of many for the UK, as the demand grows for public charging stations which will account for nearly 8% of the market over the next 3 to 10 years.”
